Windows 2000 And Later Sends Msft 50 In Dhcp Requests

Windows 2000 and Later Sends MSFT 5.0 in DHCP Requests

MSFT 5.0 and Android dhcpd-5.5.6 Indentifiers in DHCP Requests

DHCP Vendor Identifier Changes in Windows and Android

The DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) standard defines a vendor-specific class identifier field in the DHCP request packet. This field allows devices to identify their vendor and model to DHCP servers. By examining this field, DHCP servers can provide appropriate configuration parameters to the requesting device.

In recent versions of Windows and Android, the vendor class identifier has been updated. For Windows 2000 and later, the vendor identifier is now "MSFT 5.0". This change was made to improve compatibility with newer DHCP servers and to support new features in Windows.

In Android, the vendor identifier for devices running Android 13 is now "android-dhcp-13". This change was made to reflect the new version of Android and to improve DHCP compatibility.
