History of the Paws to Read Program
The Paws to Read program began in 1999 at the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh. The program was created to help children improve their reading skills by reading to therapy dogs. The program has since been adopted by libraries across the country. The program is designed to help children who are struggling with reading and communication skills.
Paws to Read Program Today
Today, the Paws to Read program is offered at over 500 libraries across the country. The program has been shown to be effective in helping children improve their reading skills and social interaction. The program is not limited by any age group. Toddlers, children, teens, and adults are encouraged to sign up. Requirements vary depending on the age group being served.
