Zoo Boo was first held in 1994. The event was originally called "Boo at the Zoo" and was only held on one night. In 1996, the event was expanded to two nights and renamed "Zoo Boo." Zoo Boo has since become one of the most popular Halloween events in Chicago, attracting over 20,000 people each year.
